The Rev. Mary Moore Gaines, Rector

Bio: Born and brought up in Fort Worth, Texas. B.A. Vassar College ’52.  Married, 6 children, 11 grandchildren. Lived in Europe for 21 years.  M.Div. from CDSP in Berkeley ‘89.  Ordained in 1990 and have served at St. James ever since.  I believe that “Communities don’t just happen.  We create them.  Many active communities working together make healthy cities, healthy countries, a healthy world.”

The Rev. John M. Gallagher, Assisting Priest

Bio: Life long San Franciscan. B.A. Stanford University '51. following service in the U. S. Navy, '52 - '56, worked in the corporate business world and for The Asia Foundation, San Francisco. Attended The Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass. '62 - 65, M. Div. '65. Served in parish and diocesan ministries, '65 - 83. Attended The San Francisco Theological Seminary '81 - 83, M.A. Pastoral Psychology, '83. Director and staff therapist, California Counseling Institute, '82 -'94. "Though retired, my role at St. James offers me the opportunity to participate in a vital community of persons seeking to know and to live God's love."

The Rev. Shari Young, Director of Children's Ministry

Bio: Born and raised in Southern California.  BA Pacific Oaks College 1973 M.Div. from CDSP in Berkeley 1988.  Served as Chaplain, Cathedral School for Boys 1988-93; Adjunct Priest, Grace Cathedral 1988-99; Vicar of St. Aidan’s, Bolinas 1993-96; on staff at St. James since 1998.  “We all need a way to “frame” our life experience, a community of people who share that understanding, and a way to serve others both with mercy and justice.  Being a helper, partner, and guide for both children and adults on the life journey is a great joy.”
