St. James’ membership includes more than 300 people of all ages. Our members come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. Many are “cradle” Episcopalians who grew up in this tradition. Three generations of some families continue to worship here together. A significant number are former Roman Catholics who have found a home in the Episcopal Church. Most fit into the “miscellaneous” category – raised in other Protestant faiths or in none at all. Several interfaith families worship here and a number of our members have been strongly influenced by Buddhist teaching and practice. This is one of the reasons we say the “Episcopal Church Welcomes You” – we embrace everyone no matter where they come from or where they are on their spiritual journey.
While most of our members live in San Francisco and a significant portion are Richmond district neighbors, we draw people from the East Bay, the Peninsula, and from across the Golden Gate Bridge as well.
