JOIN A SPIRITUAL GROUP

St. James fosters connection and care in a fast-paced, ever-changing city. We remind each other the values that endure in a world often focused on the short-term, and search together for a truth that is deeper than the news cycle. We invite you to pray, play, and make the world a better place with us.

SUNDAY EVENING MEDITATION

Take a break from the business of your life. Feel the power of meditating with a group. Sunday Evening Meditation is held every week throughout the year in the church. St. James parishioners and neighbors sit together for 20 minutes of silent meditation, providing a quiet space to end your weekend.

We gather quietly at 5:30 p.m. to prepare for our meditation together, with one-on-one instruction available for beginning meditators.  At 5:45 p.m. we commence 20 minutes of silence.

We come together, celebrating our inner strength and insight, sitting in the silence of pure prayer. All are welcome.

Contact Sandra Dratler for more info.

WEDNESDAY ZOOM EVENING PRAYER

Join your sisters and brothers for a mid-week respite as we gather in prayer and praise for a half-hour via Zoom. A ministry that started during Covid has become a permanent part of the St. James schedule. Prayer is led by clergy and laypeople. We draw from various Anglican prayer books and other resources, sometimes with a particular theme, most often with complimentary music. We are joined by friends and family from across the US through the wonders of Zoom.

Once a month on the second Wednesday we use a more personal “in our own words” format, raising up to God our individual and community intercessions in an open and loosely structured setting. During the even-numbered months, St. James Faith in Action leads one of the services with prayers being offered for those affected by social injustices here and around the world. Watch the weekly bulletin for these special services.

We gather via Zoom every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

WOMEN'S CIRCLE

The Women’s Circle gathers on the 2nd Saturday of every month (except July and August) in the Parish Hall (and on Zoom) from 10-11:30am.

We have a “Check-in” to share the events of our lives, both large and small; and a “Presentation” led by a rotating member of the group.  Currently we are using Spiritual Literacy, an anthology by F&M Brussat, as our source.  It covers a wide variety of themes, with excerpts from hundreds of spiritual authors.

Please contact Shari Young with any questions.

MEN'S BREAKFAST

The men’s group breakfast meets on the second Saturday monthly from 8-9:30am, at St. James for coffee, nosh and discussions on various topics.

Please contact Roger Wickstrom or Paul Sinclair for more information.

CHOIR PROGRAM

Music is an important part of life at St. James. Our choir enriches our Sunday worship and Holy Day celebrations. Concerts and recitals are hosted throughout the year.

For more information about music at St. James or joining our choir, contact Katherine Nägele-Lin.

ST. JAMES HEALING TEAM

One of the most important aspects of our community is the support we provide one another. The St. James Healing Team was founded to provide a source of strength and hope through prayer, providing the following two services:

1. Laying on of hands and prayers for people. Please join us in the side chapel during the 10am Sunday Eucharist to be given a special, private prayer by our prayer ministry.

2. Prayer List. If you or a loved one are in need of prayer, please contact Elizabeth Nelson to be added to the prayer list. This is included in both our weekly service and daily prayers within our group.
